Recently I've been getting a lot of question relating to the blogging both behind the scene and blogging it self.
As some of you might be aware of by now. I started my blog in the heat of the moment very sporadically and didn't give it a second thought. I don't regret this and if I was to go back in time I wouldn't change anything cause it has been a great learning experience.
However to save some of you guys from long long long nights I've created a little guideline that might be helpful.
What you need to know
Technical Side
Formate
I launched my blog using blogger. It a free site and is one of the most user friendly and popular sites out there specially if its your first attempt at starting a site in my opinion. The option of buying a site is also there but I feel like its not necessary with both blogger and wordpress once you have set up your site you can change the URL to be more specific
ex: passionforfashion.blogspot.com can later be changed to www.passionforfashion.com
this can be done through godaddy.com
Template
Now you can buy a template from many websites but you can also get some good quality templates for free, the choice is yours just know no matter which way you pick you'll still need to fix the layout along with a few other stuff.
Detailing
Here are a few apps that you can use to personalize your blog
picmonkey ( for editing and creating headers)
Youtube video.
There's a video on everything. If you any technical question you can find the answer on the tube
Social side
Research
Before I had an interest for blogging I unfortunately wasn't aware of many other bloggers. It wasn't till once I started researching I was able to find blogs that spoke to me, gave me ideas tips and inspiration. If you notice I have a blog reading list ( at the bottom right hand corner of my blog if you are viewing from a computer or at the bottom of my blog if you are viewing from a phone) these blogs helped me to not only discover what kind of template and layout I would want for my blog but also helped me structure my tone, approach and much much more.
Also brand research, if you feel like you could be a significant contributions to a company, don't be afraid to shoot them an email. Research the company and be honest when approaching them, the worse they can say is no and with every no you might even get a reason why and start to work towards getting that standard achieved.
" If they won't open the door don't be afraid to knock it down, make as much noise as possible till you reach the level you want and even when you get there keep aiming higher. ! "
Be sociable
What I found is that ALL my social media accounts whether its Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram or twitter, its important and all work together to increase the traffic you bring to your platform.
This can be done buy creating a buzz around each platform about your site (fake it till you make it)
ex Facebook page, creative Instagram feed / cohesive Instagram theme that relates to what your site and you is about. more on cohesive theme Here.
helpful apps
UNUM ( helps to create a cohesive Instagram feed along )
VSCO ( Photo editing app )
Darkroom ( Photo editing app )
Snapseed ( Photo editing app )
Squaready (Allow to create the white boarders on Instagram )
Stay connected
So now your in the blogging world you need to stay connected and know whats up and follow other bloggers, influencer pages, events pages basically stay connected with all things blogging and relating to your site so your not out of the loop again this is why research is so important.
Be Consistent
Its not enough to just have a cool site you need to be as consistent as possible and if your going to be be busy or late with a post let your readers know. Mention it so it doesn't look like your just not bothered to stay consistent.
Be your biggest fan
Don't focus on what people may or may not be doing. It shouldn't be about the likes or shares but about you creating great content its easy to lose motivation when you feel like your hard work is going unrecognised but remember its a journey not a race be patient!. Just focus on you and everything will work out. Act and see your self in the position you want to be in either you have 500 followers or 5,000. Its quality over quantity.
Must importantly believe in your self and focus on what you alone are doing. Yes there are many bloggers out there and yes they might be based on the same concept as your blog but they're not you. Like my mom always says " its not about who starts something but who finishes it ", so with that piece of motivation on your side go for it and if your hearts in the right place nothing can stop you, your work will always speak for its self.

DeleteBlogging is so much work and I never thought there is so much going on behind the scene too. It is important to love what you do, if you are happy with what you come up, I am sure it will pay off eventually.

DeleteThis is such a helpful post for those who are thinking of starting a blog or a newbies. Blogging isn't all funs and giggles, it does take a lot of time, effort and energy, AND money. But if it's something you enjoy, then it's all worth it :)
